"Paula Scott's oil paintings explore a world that seems immediately implausible. Situated at the cross roads of the real and surreal, her work is peppered with costumed rabbits, sheep and a panoply of other characters, that would be at home in any fairy tale. Although it reveals a world that seems closer to Alice's Wonderland that our own, this work is autobiographical. The absurd scenarios the artist creates are reflections on her life's journey and metaphorical devices to provoke further thought."
George Harris, Curator.
Paula was born in California and immigrated as a child to Canada with her family. She began painting in her late thirties and is mainly self taught. She has received numerous scholarships including the Vancouver Foundation Development Award and has participated in solo and group exhibitions throughout BC.
